Premier Inn set to open its tallest hotel in the UK

Premier Inn is set to open not only its tallest hotel in the UK but also its largest hotel in London outside from its Airport hotels.

The new development, based in Westferry, east London, will boast over 400-bedrooms and occupy 28 storeys of a 30-storey building next to the Westferry Docklands Light Railway (DLR) station near Canary Wharf.

To kickstart the construction, Whitbread, the hotel brand’s parent company, will take a 30-year lease of the hotel and a restaurant space from developer Rockwell Property, who were recently granted planning permission on the site which is currently derelict.

Louise Woodruff, acquisitions manager for Premier Inn, said: “We’re very excited to bring Premier Inn to Canary Wharf Westferry in what will be our tallest hotel in the UK. Aside from our hotels at Gatwick and Heathrow Airports, this 400-bedroom hotel will be the largest Premier Inn in London, which reflects the strong demand we’re experiencing in east London and especially around Canary Wharf.”

Construction is due to start in summer 2019.
